We are seeking a proactive Principal Clinical Programmer to serve as a subject matter expert and technical leader for clinical programming projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Medidata Rave and Custom Functions and will be responsible for leading project teams, managing deliverables, and mentoring junior programmers.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert on core business packages, including Medidata, Rave, Oracle OC/RDC, Oracle Inform, and SAS.
- Utilize development tools to design, write, validate, and maintain software to meet specifications.
- Generate and maintain all required documentation, including specifications, coding, and validation efforts for annotated Case Report Forms (CRFs) and database creation.
- Proactively monitor applications for workflow alerts, system errors, and performance issues.
- Serve on project teams to coordinate and lead development activities for clinical programming projects.
- Keep project management informed of any issues that might impact project timelines or budget.
- Balance multiple task assignments and communicate resource needs to supervisors.
- Ensure high-quality deliverables by providing senior review of program-level and multi-study core deliveries for accuracy.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, training, and guidance to other department members.
- Collaborate with clients, peers, and lead programmers to clarify and finalize specifications.
- Manage project resources and proactively alert management of delivery and resourcing needs.
- Contribute to the update of standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Oversee program-level clinical programming operations, which may include supervising a team of clinical programmers.
Skills Required
- A Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) or equivalent related education and experience.
- Must have experience with end-to-end clinical programming in Rave EDC.
- Strong Custom Functions programming experience.
- Must have programming lead experience.
- The ability to deal effectively with sponsors and internal customers at all levels.
- Excellent written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience in managing multiple priorities in a highly dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Experience with programming languages such as PL/SQL, SAS, C#, or VB is preferred.
- The ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
