Position Responsibilities
The Principal IT Business Systems Analyst (Finance & ERP) partners with Finance, Accounting, Revenue Operations, and other stakeholders to optimize end-to-end business processes and the supporting enterprise applications ecosystem. This role leads discovery and process design workshops, translates business needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements, and drives solution design decisions that improve controls, scalability, data quality, and user experience. The Sr. BSA owns requirements through delivery across the full lifecycle—intake, prioritization, analysis, configuration/specification, testing, deployment, and hypercare—working closely with Product Owners, Architects, Developers, ERP/Finance teams, vendors, and managed service partners. The Sr. BSA will evaluate tradeoffs and recommend solutions that balance cost, risk, controls, and business value, leveraging deep finance domain knowledge and strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Systems Planning, Integration & Deployment
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops to improve finance and enterprise processes (Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash), including controls, approvals, segregation of duties, and audit requirements.
- Perform business case development (cost/benefit, ROI, NPV where applicable) for ERP and finance initiatives, including process efficiency, close acceleration, risk reduction, and controls improvement.
- Partner with ERP/Finance SMEs and technical teams to design and deliver new capabilities and enhancements (configuration, extensions, integrations, and automations) while adhering to enterprise architecture standards.
- Create and maintain process maps, user stories/use cases, functional specifications, data mapping, and interface/control design documentation to guide configuration and development.
- Lead test strategy and execution (SIT/UAT/regression) for finance/ERP changes, including reconciliation validation, close-cycle scenarios, integration testing, and defect triage through resolution.
- Drive change management for releases (training plans, job aids, release notes, stakeholder communications) and ensure adoption across teams.
- Support M&A integration by defining ERP/finance requirements, leading data conversion and master data harmonization (customers, vendors, chart of accounts, financial transactions), and validating downstream impacts.
- Lead evaluation and selection of finance/ERP and adjacent platforms (e.g., FP&A, billing, tax, expense, reporting, iPaaS), using a structured methodology (requirements, scoring, demos, references, TCO).
Systems Operations & Support
- Provide production support for finance/ERP and related integrations by analyzing incidents, identifying root cause, and delivering sustainable fixes that improve stability, controls, and user experience.
- Assess existing finance and ERP processes/systems and drive continuous improvement using KPIs (e.g., close duration, reconciliation accuracy, invoice cycle time), automation opportunities, and improved reporting.
- Provide thought leadership by mentoring analysts, establishing analysis/documentation standards, and contributing to governance for finance/ERP roadmap, enhancements, and controls.
