Principal Backend Engineer Python/FastAPI | GCP | Architecture
The Principal Backend Engineer will lead the design and development of scalable backend systems that power our Mobile and Web applications. This role requires deep expertise in Python (especially FastAPI), cloud-native development on GCP, and a strong architectural mindset. You will play a key role in mentoring the team, reviewing and approving PRs, and ensuring backend development aligns with best practices and business goals.
Experience
- 8+ years of backend application development experience in fast-paced, agile environments.
- Proven track record of designing and delivering scalable, secure, and maintainable backend systems.
- Experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineering teams.
Key Skills & Knowledge
- Expertise in Python, with a strong focus onFastAPIfor building high-performance APIs.
- Solid experience withGoogle Cloud Platform (GCP)services such as Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Firestore, and Cloud Functions.
- Strong understanding ofmicroservices architecture, containerization (Docker), and orchestration tools (Kubernetes is a plus).
- Proficiency inNoSQL databases, especially MongoDB.
- Experience designing and implementingsecure, production-grade APIs.
- Ability toreview and approve pull requests, provide constructive feedback, and unblock team members.
- Strong architectural thinking: ability to break down complex problems into modular, scalable solutions.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
