Key Responsibilities:
Precast Design & Planning:
- Collaborate with design engineers to develop the design and detailing of precast concrete elements.
- Review project specifications and client requirements to ensure precast solutions are compliant with design and safety standards.
- Prepare detailed plans and schedules for precast work activities, including casting, curing, and installation timelines.
- Ensure that the design of precast elements aligns with overall project schedules and cost expectations.
Production Management:
- Oversee the production of precast concrete components at the plant, ensuring that production is in line with project requirements, timelines, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with production teams to ensure proper materials, forms, and equipment are available for efficient casting and production.
- Monitor the production process to ensure that each precast element is produced to specification, with appropriate quality control checks at every stage.
- Implement corrective actions as necessary to address any production issues or quality concerns.
Installation & Site Coordination:
- Manage the transportation, delivery, and installation of precast concrete elements at the construction site.
- Coordinate with site engineers and contractors to ensure that precast elements are safely and efficiently installed as per design.
- Oversee the handling and installation of large and heavy precast components, ensuring safety measures are followed to prevent accidents or damage.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure that installation is on schedule, within budget, and meets all quality and safety requirements.
Quality Control & Assurance:
- Ensure all precast concrete elements meet required industry standards and are manufactured and installed to the highest quality.
- Conduct regular inspections and testing of precast elements both during production and upon delivery to the construction site.
- Address any non-conformities in materials, production, or installation processes, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Maintain proper documentation of quality checks, testing, and inspections for all precast work.
Cost & Resource Management:
- Assist in the estimation of costs for precast concrete elements, ensuring that production and installation processes remain within budget.
- Optimize resource allocation to prevent delays and reduce costs, including material management, labor, and equipment use.
- Work closely with procurement teams to ensure the timely availability of required materials and components for precast production.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations during the production, transportation, and installation of precast elements.
- Conduct regular safety audits and ensure that the team and contractors follow established safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Implement and promote best practices for environmental sustainability in precast production and installation processes.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians involved in precast production and installation.
- Foster a collaborative working environment with other engineering disciplines, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure seamless execution of precast works.
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members, helping them troubleshoot issues during production or installation.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all precast work, including design documents, production schedules, quality control reports, and installation logs.
- Provide regular progress updates to senior management and clients, addressing any challenges, risks, or changes to the project scope.
- Prepare and submit all necessary documentation for project review, approval, and certification.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in precast concrete works, including design, production, and installation in large-scale construction projects.
- Industry Expertise: Experience in infrastructure, commercial, or residential construction projects involving precast concrete elements.
Skills & Competencies:
- Precast Concrete Knowledge: In-depth understanding of precast concrete production processes, design, and installation techniques.
- Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills, with experience in managing timelines, budgets, and teams.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in using design and engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., IS 3370, IS 456).
- Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Ability to identify issues in production or installation and implement effective solutions quickly.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of reporting and presenting technical information to management, clients, and contractors.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Strong understanding of safety regulations and practices related to precast concrete production and construction sites.
Desirable Certifications:
- Certifications: Certifications in project management (PMP) or precast concrete design and quality assurance would be an advantage.
- Safety Certifications: NEBOSH or equivalent safety certifications are preferred.
- Software Certifications: Proficiency in precast-specific software tools is desirable (e.g., Tekla, Bentley).
