Job Description

Company Description

Quintrans is a deep-tech hardware company building high-performance electromagnetic linear actuators and motion systems for robotics, industrial automation, defense, and next-generation mobility platforms. We design and manufacture advanced linear motor systems, power electronics, and control architectures that replace traditional pneumatic and mechanical actuation systems — delivering precision, energy efficiency, and reliability from India to the world. We are a fast-growing engineering-driven team building globally competitive motion technology with real world industrial impact.

Role Description

The Power Electronics & Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and validating high voltage power electronics and control systems for electromagnetic linear actuators and motor platforms. The role involves end-to-end ownership of power stage design, embedded controls development, system integration, and validation — from concept and simulation to hardware bring-up and performance optimization. This is a high-ownership role suited for engineers who can independently drive power electronics and control development programs in a fast-paced deep-tech environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design high-voltage power electronics circuits (DC bus systems, inverters, gate drivers, protection circuits).
  • Design and simulate control systems using MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent tools.
  • Perform hardware bring-up, debugging, and validation of power electronics boards.
  • Implement protection strategies (overcurrent, overvoltage, thermal, short-circuit protection).
  • Conduct system-level testing including efficiency mapping, thermal analysis, and dynamic performance validation.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and product teams for integrated machine design.
  • Support FMEA and reliability analysis from a power electronics and controls perspective.
  • Maintain structured documentation including schematics, PCB revisions, firmware versions, and validation reports.
  • Continuously improve system efficiency, EMI/EMC robustness, and control stability through iterative development.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Power Electronics / Control Systems.

Experience

  • Strong knowledge of high voltage DC systems and inverter design.
  • Experience in circuit design for motor drives (MOSFET/IGBT selection, gate driver design, current sensing, DC link design).
  • Solid understanding of electric machine fundamentals and motor modeling.
  • Hands on experience with control theory (PID control, state control loops)
  • Using oscilloscopes, current probes, and power analyzers.
  • Understanding of EMI/EMC considerations in power electronics systems. Strong problem solving ability and ownership mindset.
