What we are looking for
We are seeking a skilled PostgreSQL Database Administratorwith 35 years of experience in managing and optimizing PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB databases. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in database administration, AWS database services, performance tuning, high availability configurations, and disaster recovery strategies.
The role requires hands-on experience with cloud environments, particularly AWS, along with strong Linux administration and automation capabilities to ensure high database availability and performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and administer PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB databases in production environments.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain databases on AWS platforms including RDS, Aurora, and EC2.
- Implement and manage database backup, restore, disaster recovery (DR), and point-in-time recovery (PITR) strategies.
- Ensure high availability through replication mechanisms such as logical replication, streaming replication, and Aurora native features.
- Perform database upgrades (in-place and side-by-side) with minimal downtime.
- Monitor database performance and conduct tuning activities for high-performance workloads.
- Configure and manage database users, roles, and authentication mechanisms including Kerberos and Active Directory (AD).
- Implement monitoring using CloudWatch, analyze metrics, and configure alerts.
- Automate routine tasks using Unix/Linux shell scripting.
- Configure AWS infrastructure components including subnets, security groups, and RDS clusters.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in production environments.
- Maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and operational procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support production environments and ensure 24x7 database availability.
Technical Requirements
- Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture including MVCC internals.
- Experience working with PostgreSQL versions 17/18in production environments.
- Expertise in database performance tuning and query optimization.
- Experience with AWS database migration and cross-account data transfers.
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix shell scripting for operational automation.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with enterprise database monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of infrastructure security best practices.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
