Job Description

Job Type: Contractual (till 2027)

Salary: Competitive, based on experience (₹50,000 - ₹75,000 per month, inclusive all expenses )

About the Role: Polstrat is hiring a Political Assistant with a strong academic background in communications, journalism, public relations, or political science and a passion for political communication and digital engagement. The ideal candidate must be adept at crafting compelling narratives, highly skilled in data analysis and research, and must stay current with political trends and public policy in India. This role is Lucknow-based.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key point of contact, ensuring effective coordination and execution of campaign strategies for political clients.
  • Manage schedules, appointments, and travel arrangements for the client. Handle correspondence, emails, and phone calls with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Conduct research on political issues, policy matters, local developments in UP, and opposition activities. Prepare briefing notes, reports, and speeches.
  • Analyze complex data from surveys, reports, and public opinion polls to extract strategic insights and inform messaging.
  • Draft and refine high-impact communication materials, including speeches, press releases, statements for media, and core campaign narratives.
  • Support in addressing queries from party members and the public, maintaining records of interactions.
  • Familiarity with on-ground political processes and electoral work in an Indian context, assisting in the alignment of digital strategy with grassroots efforts.
  • Monitor current events, political developments, public policy discussions, and online trends to develop timely and relevant content and insights, demonstrating an ability to understand and navigate political nuance.
  • Collaborate closely with strategy, design, and leadership teams to ensure alignment of messaging and visual storytelling across all communication channels.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with political clients, political campaigns, public affairs, or strategic communications firms.
  • Strong knowledge of Uttar Pradesh politics and current affairs.
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle sensitive information, and maintain long hours if needed.
  • Must be based in or willing to relocate to Lucknow.
  • Fluent in both English and Hindi (writing, reading, and speaking) is essential for client communication, research, and content creation.
  • Proven skills in data analysis and a strong ability to read, interpret, and summarize findings from complex surveys and reports.
  • A deep, demonstrated interest and understanding of Indian politics, public policy, and the digital communication landscape.
  • Exceptional creative thinking, meticulous attention to detail, and the proven ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
