Job Description

Dr. Martens is a globally recognisable and culturally influential British brand, with over 60 years of rich heritage. As brand custodians, we are lucky to work for a dynamic, thriving, and ethical business, with people from diverse backgrounds, who bring their true selves to work, and where anyone can grow their career.

We are guided by three core values that are at the heart of everything we do: be yourself, act courageously, and show you care. They make us who we are and inspire us to push boundaries, embrace our individuality, and stand up for what's right.

SO, WHAT'S THE STORY

We are on an exciting journey to drive impactful change within our Technology function. As part of a global fashion retailer, our technology underpins all aspects of our products and commerce processes. This is your opportunity to join a dynamic team and help shape the future direction of technology in the company.

THE GIG

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys bringing clarity, structure, and consistency to how teams work.

Reporting into the Technology Governance & Process Improvement Manager, you'll support the day‑to‑day operation of governance, processes, and tooling across the technology function. Your focus will be on helping teams adopt agreed ways of working, embedding standards into tools, and supporting clear communication and coordination across stakeholders.

You'll play a key role in making governance and process usable, understood, and embedded — not just documented.

Governance, Process & Tooling

  • Support the operation of technology governance processes across initiatives, platforms, and BAU work.
  • Help embed agreed ways of working into tools such as Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, and reporting platforms.
  • Maintain and evolve templates, guidance, and standards that support consistent delivery and operations.
  • Support adherence to governance controls by making them simple, visible, and easy to follow.
  • Assist with documenting processes, workflows, and decision points in a clear, user‑friendly way.
  • Help create guidance, how‑to content, and simple training materials for technology teams.
  • Act as a first point of contact for questions around ways of working and governance.
  • Gather feedback on what is and isn't working, and feed this into continuous improvement activities.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Support coordination across technical teams, delivery leads, and stakeholders to ensure shared understanding
  • Support clear and consistent communication across initiatives and teams.
  • Help prepare materials for governance, prioritisation, and capacity review forums.

Portfolio & Delivery Support

  • Support visibility of demand, work in progress, and capacity across teams and domains.
  • Help maintain prioritisation data (e.g. initiatives, work types, commitments) within agreed tooling.
  • Assist with the preparation of capacity and prioritisation views for governance forums and stakeholders.
  • Support analysis of where demand exceeds capacity and help surface trade‑offs, risks, and constraints.
  • Ensure prioritisation decisions and changes are clearly documented and communicated.
  • Support basic tracking of initiatives, milestones, risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Maintain delivery and planning artefacts and ensure information remains up to date.
  • Assist with consolidation of delivery, capacity, and prioritisation information for reporting.
  • Proactively flag data gaps, risks, or inconsistencies to appropriate owners.

THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART

Must-Have Experience:

  • 4-6 years experience in a PMO, project support, governance, or operational role.
  • Experience supporting processes, standards, or planning activities in a technology environment.
  • Exposure to capacity tracking, prioritisation, or demand management (formal or informal).
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.

Tools & Capabilities

  • Comfortable using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and Excel.
  • Confidence maintaining structured data to support prioritisation and capacity views.
  • Some experience with reporting or dashboards (e.g. Power BI) is an advantage

Soft Skills:

  • Structured, methodical, and dependable.
  • Clear communicator who can turn complexity into clarity.
  • Curious and improvement‑driven.
  • Comfortable working behind the scenes to enable better decisions.
  • Likes helping teams understand why as well as what.

We live and breathe Rebellious Self Expression at Dr. Martens, and there are 3 core values at the heart of it. They never stand alone, but work together as a balancing act of rights and responsibilities to support how we work together at DMs. BE YOURSELF. ACT COURAGEOUSLY. SHOW YOU CARE.

At DM your technical capability will go hand in hand with the below:

  • Great relationship management that delivers results through effective teamwork

  • You'll help build a highly engaged team – ensuring a collaborative culture and providing guidance & support to other team members
  • You will take ownership for your own development, proactively seeking out feedback to build self-awareness
  • You will bring the outside-in; you'll share best practice across the team/business and encourage ideas sharing as well as collaborative problem solving
  • You'll lead the way and role model on all things DE&I & wellbeing
