IT Security Technology

Jefferies IT Security Technology / Global Information Security (GIS) team protects the firm's critical systems, sensitive information, and global operations against evolving cyber threats. GIS partners with Technology, Operations, Corporate functions, and the Business to embed security into day-to-day operations while supporting productivity, regulatory compliance, and operational resilience. GIS balances strong controls with efficiency and operates globally across the US, EMEA, and APAC to provide round-the-clock coverage.

Role Overview

Jefferies is seeking a Platform Security Engineer to protect enterprise platforms using endpoint security technologies, with a primary focus on Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR), anti-malware, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP). The role requires hands-on, multi-disciplinary experience across servers, workstations, laptops, virtual machines, and thin clients running Windows, Linux, and UNIX.

You will work closely with the Security Operations Center (SOC) and other security teams to provide operational support, deliver new initiatives, ensure high availability, and drive upgrades/enhancements. This is an opportunity to help shape and mature Jefferies platform security capabilities and roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and provide operational support for endpoint security technologies (EDR, anti-malware, DLP).
  • Create and maintain documentation including runbooks, design documents, and configuration standards.
  • Perform regression testing and analysis for endpoint security platforms and updates.
  • Follow release management best practices for deployments, enhancements, and upgrades.
  • Partner with SOC and security teams during investigations, containment, and remediation efforts.
  • Conduct deep log analysis, fault isolation, and root cause analysis, and execute corrective actions.
  • Drive automation to continuously monitor and maintain OS security posture.
  • Define and track metrics/KPIs and provide supporting analytics for endpoint and system security.
  • Stay current on endpoint security threats, attacker techniques, and mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and execute strategy to enhance current investments and identify opportunities for innovation and uplift.
  • Aggregate data across disparate platforms to design and develop meaningful alerting and detections.
  • Manage a portfolio of security engineering initiatives and directly lead select projects end-to-end .

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with endpoint security technologies.
  • Hands-on DLP experience (mandatory).
  • Strong understanding of OS internals and exploit mechanics, with knowledge of preventive/detective controls.
  • Demonstrated experience investigating security incidents; ability to analyze logs to determine scope, techniques, and impacted systems.
  • Experience producing trending, metrics, and management reporting.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with remote/global stakeholders.
  • Ability to mentor peers and train junior team members; provide technical direction when needed.
  • Excellent documentation skills and ability to organize workflow and priorities.
  • Self-motivated and able to learn independently.
  • Bachelor's degree in Technology/related field (or equivalent proven experience).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Scripting experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
  • Knowledge of Splunk Search Processing Language (SPL).
  • Experience in the Financial Services industry.
  • Security certifications (e.g., Ethical Hacking or endpoint securityfocused certifications).
