We are seeking a highly experienced Software Architect (Contract/Freelance) to support the design, modernization, and scalability of technology solutions serving public and private education institutions across the United States.

This is an opportunity for a strategic thinker and hands-on technical leader who understands both complex systems architecture and the unique operational landscape of K12 and/or higher education environments in the United States.

• Familiarity with SIS platforms, EdTech integrations, FERPA compliance, student data systems, or school network environments is highly valued
• Required: Experience working with U.S. public or private education schools (K12 or higher ed)
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with executive leadership, IT teams, and vendors
• 10+ years of progressive experience in software architecture and enterprise systems design on EdTech platforms
• Proven experience designing scalable, secure, and high-availability systems
• Strong background in cloud-native architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Expertise in API design, system integrations, and data architecture
• Experience modernizing legacy systems
• Deep understanding of cybersecurity best practices

Scope of Work

• Architect and design scalable system frameworks
• Evaluate and improve existing technology infrastructure
• Develop integration strategies across multiple systems
• Ensure compliance, data security, and performance optimization
• Guide platform modernization initiatives
• Provide strategic technical advisement to leadership

Engagement Details

• Contract / Freelance (project-based)
• Remote with occasional strategic planning sessions
