Role & Responsibilities
- Plan and perform elective and emergency plastic surgery procedures including reconstructive and aesthetic operations with full responsibility for peri-operative care and outcomes.
- Assess patients in outpatient clinics, develop surgical plans, counsel on risks/benefits, obtain informed consent and document clinical decisions clearly.
- Execute microsurgical and flap-based reconstructions, rhinoplasties, breast reconstructions and contouring procedures following best-practice protocols.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care with anaesthesiology, oncology, orthopaedics and physiotherapy teams for complex reconstructions and trauma cases.
- Maintain accurate surgical records, participate in morbidity & mortality reviews and implement quality-improvement actions to improve patient safety.
- Mentor and supervise junior surgeons, residents and nursing staff; contribute to training, audits and departmental governance.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- MBBS with MCh (Plastic Surgery) or DNB (Plastic Surgery) or equivalent recognized qualification and valid medical registration in India.
- Proven operative experience in microsurgery, flap reconstruction and common aesthetic procedures.
- Strong theatre skills including advanced suturing and intraoperative decision-making for complex reconstructions.
- Familiarity with clinical governance, peri-operative protocols and medico-legal documentation specific to surgery practice.
- Ability to manage emergency trauma referrals and provide on-call surgical cover as required.
Preferred
- Fellowship or additional training in microvascular surgery, aesthetic surgery or hand surgery.
- Experience working in high-volume tertiary hospitals or dedicated plastic surgery centres.
- Published clinical work or active participation in teaching programs and departmental audits.
