Position: Plant Manager- Spirit / Liquor / Distillery
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Plant Manager to oversee and manage the operations of our spirits manufacturing plant in Uganda. The ideal candidate will possess deep industry knowledge, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record in plant management within the alcohol or beverage sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Oversee all plant operations, including:
- Manufacturing
- Engineering
- Quality assurance
- Safety and environment
- Logistics
- Procurement
- Finance
- Ensure uninterrupted and efficient production of distilled beverages and warehousing activities.
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Manage budgeting, equipment selection, cost control, and plant commissioning.
- Drive production and sales targets as per the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
- Formulate and implement strategies to meet annual business objectives.
Process Optimization
- Enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
- Establish and enforce SOPs for safety, quality, and security of workforce and machinery.
- Optimize resource utilization across departments.
Quality & Maintenance
- Maintain in-process quality control and ensure continuous process improvements.
- Oversee preventive maintenance, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions.
Vendor & Compliance Management
- Identify and develop vendors; manage supplier relationships.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies, including:
- Country/State Excise Laws
- UNBS (Uganda National Bureau of Standards)
- Other statutory authorities
Projects & Capex
- Lead new capital expenditure projects and expansion initiatives.
Team Leadership & HR
- Build and lead high-performing teams aligned with company goals.
- Manage industrial relations, labor issues, recruitment, orientation, and training.
Government Liaison
- Maintain smooth relations with government departments and facilitate all necessary liaisoning for seamless plant operations.
Job Requirements:
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (B.Tech) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Instrumentation Engineering preferred.
- Additional qualifications in distillation (e.g., Diploma in Distilling or Institute of Brewing & Distilling certification) will be an advantage.
Experience:
- 10–15 years of experience in the Alcohol and/or Beverage industry.
- Strong background in distillation operations is highly preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proven experience in plant and team management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and challenging environment.
- Computer proficiency (Tally and other plant operation tools is a plus).
Package Structure:
- Net Savings offshore salary
- Local Allowance Salary- will include Accommodation Rent, Food, Utility payment (Company will facilitate in finding suitable accommodations)
- Transport / Commute to/fro - as per Grade & Company policy

- Leave: Once in a year -21 days without ticket, Once in Two year-45 days with ticket to nearest International Airport.
