The City of Salem seeks a qualified and highly motivated planner to join a 17-person planning and community development department. Duties include providing technical assistance to the Planning Board; preparing grant applications; managing projects; undertaking strategic planning initiatives; and working with residents and neighborhood groups. The ideal candidate has strong written and verbal communication skills, working knowledge of state subdivision control law, state zoning act, subdivision rules and regulations, and zoning ordinances. Ability to read and interpret development plans and specifications.; computer and interpersonal skills. Two or more years professional work experience and a master's degree in planning or related discipline preferred.
