The Pilot Line Technician, Mechanical is responsible for supporting new product introduction and pilot line operations. This role involves working closely with supply chain, service, operations, and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth transition from development to production. The technician will be trained in the art and science of mechanical assembly, pilot builds, repair, and servicing of complex systems.

This position reports to Manager, Pilot Lab Operations and is part of the Global Instrument Operations and Global Supply Chain Organization. This position is located in Bangalore, India and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Build, modify, and assemble hardware, instruments, and system components, including fabrication of new parts and fixtures for prototype development
  • Execute laboratory experiments and hands-on testing in engineering and biology/chemistry environments, including troubleshooting, prototype performance evaluations, and support for preclinical builds
  • Document test results, assembly procedures, and verification activities maintain engineering lab infrastructure, tools, and equipment to ensure readiness for prototype testing and technician training

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Associate of Science degree or equivalent work experience with 5+ years supporting mechanical engineering in product development, including application of mechanical and electrical theory to build, troubleshoot, and repair benchtop electro mechanical instruments within engineering and manufacturing environments
  • Proficiency in prototyping and manufacturing electro mechanical instruments, including precision soldering, smallscale assembly, adhesive bonding, subassembly integration, testing, servicing, rework, and use of metrology tools such as calipers, micrometers, vision systems, and CMM for troubleshooting and repair
  • Ability to meet operational requirements including 10-25% travel, valid driver's license with acceptable driving record, and capability to lift up to 25 lbs

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Ability to multi-task on several different projects and tasks concurrently
  • Ability to perform independently or as part of a team under restrictive timelines
  • Experience working in a product development environment and/or within manufacturing operations under cGMP, ISO and FDA regulations
