Senior Performance Engineering Lead (HandsOn) - Technology Assurance (AVP)
Location: Bangalore, India (Hybrid - 4 days in office)
Role Summary
State Street Investment Management is seeking a Senior Performance Engineering Lead for a handson individual contributor role. This is not a peoplemanager or strategyonly role.
The expectation from the chosen candidate will be to personally design, script, execute, analyze, and report performance testing across critical investment management platforms, including applications migrating to or running on AWS.
Performance Engineering is the primary skill.
Automation (functional/regression) is a secondary, supporting skill.
The role requires a senior engineer who leads by doing, partners closely with application, architecture, and DevOps teams, and embeds performance engineering into delivery pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
Performance Engineering (Primary - Hands On)
- Define, document and implement a comprehensive Performance Engineering Strategy for Applications and Apps migrating to AWS. Establish standardized performance testing approaches across all application including SLAs, KPIs, entry/exit criteria. Perform current state vs target state performance gap analysis and identify migration risks early.
- Strong scripting experience in tools like JMeter, NeoLoad, LoadRunner, Dynatrace, Gatling, BlazeMeter, or Locust
- Design Performance test plan and cases to create and executes Load, Capacity, Stress, Benchmarking, Scalability and Performance tests on applications and /or infrastructure components
- Identify application performance issues and bottlenecks, and assist development and infrastructure teams with determining root cause, implementing necessary changes and coordinating retests
- Create and deliver final test reports that summarize the application under test, outline the approach and objective of the test, describe the test cases and execution, clearly identify the test results and documents bottlenecks, performance issues and areas for improvement. The reports will be used by diverse audiences including infrastructure, business management and development teams.
- Ensure performance engineering principles are embedded into cloud architecture decisions and CI/CD pipelines at program and App level.
- Integrate performance tests with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (GitHub).
- Collaborate with architect, developers, QA engineers, and business analysts to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
- Track, analyze, and report test results manage defects using tools like JIRA or Azure DevOps.
Reporting & CI/CD Enablement
- Produce clear, concise, executiveready performance reports with results, risks, and recommendations
- Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, Jenkins/Harness, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
- Ensure performance considerations are embedded into cloud design and release readiness
Automation (Secondary)
- Contribute to functional and regression automation using Playwright, TOSCA
- Support shiftleft testing and overall quality engineering maturity
Required Qualifications
- 13-15 years of strong, handson experience in Performance Engineering
- Proven execution experience with:
- JMeter, NeoLoad, LoadRunner
- Dynatrace or similar monitoring tools
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently as a senior IC
- Experience with GitHub and CI/CD tools
- Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills
Preferred
- AWS or cloud platform experience
- Financial Services / Investment Management domain exposure
- Experience with complex web or thickclient applications
