Position: Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon
About The Opportunity
We are hiring an experienced Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon to join a busy on-site paediatric orthopaedics program in India. The role involves delivering high-quality surgical care, leading perioperative teams, and collaborating with paediatricians, physiotherapists and rehabilitation specialists to improve functional outcomes for children.
Role & Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of paediatric orthopaedic conditionscongenital, developmental and traumaticthroughout preoperative, operative and postoperative phases.
- Plan and perform surgical procedures including clubfoot correction (Ponseti and surgical), DDH treatment, paediatric fracture fixation, limb deformity correction and selective spinal deformity interventions.
- Lead multidisciplinary case discussions and coordinate perioperative care with anaesthesia, paediatrics, physiotherapy and nursing teams to optimise outcomes and reduce complications.
- Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, residents and allied health staff; contribute to clinical governance, morbidity & mortality reviews and quality-improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, follow evidence-based protocols, and implement post-operative rehabilitation plans tailored for paediatric patients.
- Participate in outreach clinics, parent education sessions and community-based follow-up when required to ensure continuity of care.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- MBBS with MS/DNB in Orthopaedics and fellowship/subspecialty training in Paediatric Orthopaedics (or equivalent).
- Registered with the relevant medical council (valid practising registration in India).
- Proven clinical experience in paediatric orthopaedic operative care, including management of DDH, clubfoot, paediatric trauma and limb deformities.
- Competency in perioperative decision-making, paediatric anaesthesia coordination and age-appropriate surgical technique.
- Strong documentation practices and familiarity with clinical governance, infection control and surgical safety protocols.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary paediatric teams and mentor trainees.
Preferred
- Additional fellowship or hands-on training in paediatric spinal deformity or limb reconstruction techniques.
- Experience with minimally invasive paediatric orthopaedic techniques and arthroscopy in children.
- Track record of academic contributionsresearch, publications or teaching in paediatric orthopaedics.
