About the Role:
PhysicsWallah is looking for an experienced Assistant Manager – Payroll & Compliance to manage end-to-end payroll operations and ensure adherence to statutory and labor laws. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in handling large-scale payroll and driving HR operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Management:
- Manage end-to-end payroll for a large workforce (10,000+ employees)
- Ensure accurate salary processing, tax calculations, reimbursements, and deductions
- Handle Full & Final settlements, gratuity, leave encashment, and bonuses
- Coordinate with finance for timely salary disbursement
- Prepare MIS reports, dashboards, and variance analysis
Compliance & Statutory:
- Ensure compliance with PF, ESI, PT, TDS, Bonus Act, Gratuity, and labor laws
- Manage statutory filings (monthly, quarterly, annual)
- Maintain statutory records and documentation
- Liaise with auditors and compliance vendors
- Handle license renewals (S&E, CLRA, PT, etc.)
Leave & Attendance:
- Oversee attendance and leave management systems
- Ensure accurate leave tracking and reporting
- Resolve employee queries related to attendance
HR Operations:
- Manage onboarding, induction, and exit processes
- Maintain HRIS records and employee documentation
- Issue HR letters (offer, confirmation, appraisal, relieving, etc.)
- Support appraisal cycles and compensation revisions
Budgeting & Reporting:
- Prepare salary budgets and forecasts
- Partner with finance for payroll planning
- Track and analyze payroll costs
Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and leadership teams
- Handle employee queries related to payroll and benefits
- Manage vendor relationships (payroll, compliance, insurance)
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing and taxation
- Expertise in statutory compliance and labor laws
- Hands-on experience with HRIS tools (Darwinbox preferred)
- Advanced Excel and MIS reporting skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Qualifications:
- MBA/PGDM in HR or related field
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce or relevant discipline
