Job Description

About The Role

Own end-to-end execution of high-volume, multi-jurisdiction payroll in Oracle Fusion Payroll across the U.S. and Canada. This role focuses on regular payroll production (semi-monthly and biweekly), off-cycle processing, retro management, exception handling, settlement coordination, and post-payroll corrections-ensuring accurate, compliant, on-time payroll during migration and stabilization.

What You'll Do

  • Execute semi-monthly and biweekly payroll cycles for 11,500 employees across 45+ U.S. states and 6 Canadian provinces in Oracle Fusion Payroll.
  • Manage end-to-end payroll process steps (calc, validations, prepayments, payments/settlement), ensuring schedules are met.
  • Perform retro event control activities: identify retro impacts, coordinate corrections, and process required manual offsets/adjustments.
  • Triage and resolve pay calc and retro warnings/errors using payroll message reports; coordinate fixes across HR, time, benefits, and finance.
  • Process and coordinate off-cycle payrolls (ACH/instant pay), including rollback requirements, recalculation, and settlement overlap prevention.
  • Perform post-payroll corrections, including rollback/re-run activities when required, and ensure proper audit trail and documentation.
  • Support validations and reconciliations: YTD/QTD reviews, wage base checks, locality/tax validations, and audit support.
  • Maintain runbooks/checklists; contribute to continuous improvement and cross-training to reduce single points of failure.

Basic Qualifications

  • 12+ years of payroll experience supporting multi-state U.S. payroll; working knowledge of Canadian payroll/province considerations preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with inhouse payroll systems like Oracle Fusion Payroll or adp or workday(strongly preferred) or another enterprise payroll platform with complex retro/off-cycle processing.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll operations, statutory compliance fundamentals, and payroll controls.
  • Advanced Excel skills; strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to operate in time-sensitive, high-accuracy environments.
  • Manage and support payroll data loads and mass updates using HSDL/HDL/EIB, including error resolution and repeatable templates.
  • Partner with Payroll leadership on readiness for expansion to additional countries by building scalable runbooks, controls, and documentation.

Key competencies

  • Extreme attention to detail, ownership, calm under pressure
  • Strong stakeholder communication and issue management
  • Ability to document processes and build repeatable operating rhythms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting payroll migrations (Workday → Oracle or similar).
  • Experience with payroll integrations (time, HCM, benefits) and resolving upstream/downstream issues.
  • Familiarity with payroll data loads/tools (HSDL/HDL/EIB) in partnership with HRIS.
  • Structured problem-solving, controls mindset, and strong operational rigor
  • Ability to reduce complexity for end users through standards control checks.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration with HRIS/IT and payroll operations
