Role Overview
We are looking for a
Patent & Innovation Officer who can identify, structure, and protect
innovations emerging from Kefilo's products, processes, and business models.
This role goes beyond legal filing—you will work closely with the founder and product team to
convert ideas into intellectual property (IP) and build a strong
innovation moat for Kefilo.
This is an
equity-based role, ideal for someone interested in building
IP in food, nutrition, and system-driven businesses.
Key Responsibilities1. Innovation Identification & Structuring- Identify patentable opportunities across:
- Food products and formulations
- Meal transformation systems
- Kitchen and delivery processes
- Smart kiosks and operational models
- Work with teams to refine raw ideas into structured innovations
- Patent Research & Documentation
- Conduct prior art research to validate uniqueness
- Prepare detailed documentation for patent filings
- Coordinate with external patent attorneys and IP experts
- IP Strategy Development
- Build an IP roadmap aligned with Kefilo's growth
- Decide what to patent vs keep as trade secrets
- Create a long-term defensibility strategy for the brand
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Food Product team
- Operations team
- Founder
- Ensure innovations are practical, scalable, and protectable
- Compliance & Filing Support
- Manage end-to-end patent filing processes
- Track timelines, renewals, and documentation
- Ensure compliance with IP laws and regulations
- Innovation Culture Building
- Help instill a culture of innovation within Kefilo
- Create systems to capture ideas from team members
- Drive structured experimentation and documentation
