General description of role:
The OPD / Outpatient Product Leader is a senior leadership role. They are responsible for the strategy, development, and commercial performance of Aon's outpatient (OPD) health insurance offerings in India.
The role focuses on crafting and managing innovative OPD solutions (e.g., doctor consultations, diagnostics, pharmacy, preventive care, digital health services) for corporate and retail clients. The VP will work closely with insurers, health tech partners, distribution teams, and operations to drive profitable growth, differentiated propositions, and outstanding customer experience.
Job responsibilities:
- Define and own the multiyear OPD product strategy for India across segments.
- Develop and maintain a clear product roadmap for OPD benefits (stand alone and bundled with IPD/Group Mediclaim), aligned with overall health and benefits strategy.
- Identify and size new market opportunities in OPD, preventive health, tele consults, chronic disease management, and wellness.
- Continuously monitor the external environment (IRDAI guidelines, healthcare inflation, utilization trends, digital health ecosystem) and adapt strategy accordingly.
- Lead end-to-end development of OPD propositions: concept, argument, benefit build, pricing approach, underwriting framework, and implementation.
- Incorporate digital health and partner capabilities (telemedicine, e pharmacy, diagnostic networks, wellness apps) into compelling, scalable product constructs.
- Take commercial ownership for the OPD portfolio, including growth, profitability, persistency, and utilization of metrics.
- Serve as the company's lead authority on OPD and outpatient health solutions in India. Collaborate with client teams to integrate OPD offerings into pitches, RFP responses, and renewal strategies.
- Provide advanced product training, talking points, and sales tools for front-line teams and relationship managers.
- Represent the firm at client forums, industry events, and webinars, positioning the organization as a leader with a point of view in OPD and preventive health.
- Lead senior level engagement with health insurers, TPAs, and OPD ecosystem partners (hospitals, diagnostics, e- pharmacies, wellness platforms).
- Champion a data-driven, client-centric approach to product decisions, bringing to bear analytics and client feedback.
Key Performance Indicators
- Growth in OPD-related premium/revenue and portfolio size with focus on new revenue.
- Client happiness/Net Promoter Score (NPS) for OPD and health solutions.
- Adoption and penetration of OPD products among target client segments.
- Engagement, retention, and development of the OPD product team.
Skills/proficiencies required:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Insurance, Healthcare Management, Actuarial Science, or related field MBA or relevant post-graduate qualification preferred.
- Typically 10+ years of experience in health insurance, employee benefits, or health tech in India, including significant product/proposition or technical broking exposure.
- Solid grasp of Indian health insurance market dynamics, especially OPD/ambulatory care, wellness, and preventive health solutions.
- Proven track record at senior level (Director/AVP/VP or equivalent) in managing health/OPD product portfolios and delivering commercial outcomes.
- Experience collaborating directly with insurers, TPAs, healthcare providers, and digital health partners within the Indian context.
- Deep knowledge of OPD benefits, cashless networks, utilization trends, and claim cost drivers in India.
- Familiarity with IRDAI regulations and guidelines related to health insurance products, pricing, and marketing.
- Solid knowledge of digital health trends (telemedicine, e pharmacy, remote monitoring, wellness platforms) and their connection to insurance.
- Strategic problem solver with ability to identify market gaps, develop value propositions, and translate them into actionable plans.
- Strong analytical skills comfortable working with claims/utilization data, financial projections, and arguments.
- Executive presence with ability to engage and influence senior internal partners and C-suite clients.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex product concepts for non-technical audiences.
- High level of ownership and bias for action in a fast-evolving market.
- Client-centric approach, with a passion for improving health outcomes and member experience.
