Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented OT Staff Nurse to assist in surgical procedures and ensure a safe, sterile, and efficient operating environment in a multispecialty hospital. The role involves perioperative patient care, strict adherence to aseptic protocols, and coordination with surgeons, anesthetists, and the surgical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the operation theatre for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterile and ready.
- Assist surgeons and anesthetists during surgeries (scrub and circulating roles).
- Maintain strict aseptic and infection control practices.
- Perform surgical instrument counts before, during, and after procedures.
- Handle, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and OT equipment.
- Monitor patient condition intraoperatively and assist in patient positioning.
- Ensure proper documentation of surgical procedures and nursing care.
- Coordinate with CSSD and other departments for instrument and supply management.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care.
- Manage emergency situations in OT, including Code Blue support.
Qualifications & Requirements
- B.Sc. Nursing / GNM from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration with State Nursing Council (India).
- 1–3 years of experience in OT preferred (freshers with OT training may apply).
- Certification in BLS; ACLS preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and sterile techniques.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in high-pressure surgical environments.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of OT protocols, infection control, and patient safety standards.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced operation theatre in a multispecialty hospital.
- Rotational shifts, including emergency and on-call duties.
Key Roles In OT
- Scrub Nurse: Handles sterile instruments and assists surgeons directly.
- Circulating Nurse: Manages OT environment, documentation, and supplies.
