Job Description

To lead, manage, and ensure 100% operational control of the Operation Theatre complex, including OT scheduling, manpower deployment, infection control compliance, biomedical equipment readiness, cost control, patient safety, and regulatory adherence.

The OT Manager is accountable for clinical coordination, operational efficiency, sterility standards, surgical workflow optimization, and revenue-linked theatre utilization.

  • Ensure smooth functioning of all Major & Minor OTs
  • Prepare and monitor daily OT schedule in coordination with surgeons & anesthesiologists
  • Ensure zero delay start of first case (FCS compliance)
  • Optimize OT turnaround time (TAT)
  • Ensure availability of instruments, implants, consumables before case start
  • Handle emergency OT activation protocol
  • Monitor OT utilization % and block time efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with NABH, AERB, and infection control policies
  • Monitor sterility indicators (biological, chemical, autoclave logs)
  • Oversee fumigation and terminal cleaning schedules
  • Enforce surgical site infection (SSI) prevention protocols
  • Audit OT attire, hand scrubbing compliance, zoning discipline
  • Monitor air pressure, laminar flow validation, and environmental parameters

  • Prepare monthly duty rosters
  • Ensure 24x7 OT coverage
  • Identify skill gaps & coordinate training (BLS/ACLS)
  • Conduct performance review of OT staff
  • Maintain discipline & OT behavioral standards
  • Monitor high-value implant usage
  • Control wastage of sutures, disposables, drugs
  • Verify implant documentation & traceability
  • Ensure proper charging of all OT consumables

Qualifications

Education: GNM / BSc Nursing with KNC

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of managing the OT independently. And Overall experience of 12 years into Operation Theatre.
