Job Description

Primary Job Title: Orthopaedic Surgeon

Industry & Sector: Healthcare Hospitals and Specialty Orthopaedics. A high-volume tertiary care environment delivering acute trauma, elective joint reconstruction, arthroscopic care and spine services in on-site hospital settings across India. We are building a multidisciplinary surgical team focused on clinical excellence, fast recovery pathways and measurable functional outcomes.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive operative care: perform elective and emergency procedures including joint replacement, arthroscopy, open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) and selected spinal procedures.
  • Run on-site outpatient clinics: assess patients, formulate evidence-based treatment plans, manage pre-operative optimisation and lead post-operative follow-up.
  • Lead perioperative planning and intraoperative decision-making: implant selection, use of fluoroscopy, blood-sparing strategies and surgical safety protocols.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care with physiotherapy, pain management, nursing and rehabilitation teams to optimise patient recovery and length of stay.
  • Maintain detailed clinical documentation, participate in morbidity & mortality reviews, quality improvement and clinical audit initiatives.
  • Mentor and supervise junior surgeons, trainees and theatre staff; contribute to skills training and protocol standardisation.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have (Qualifications & Clinical Skills)

  • MBBS with MS/DNB (Orthopaedics) or equivalent postgraduate qualification recognised in India.
  • Valid medical registration to practise in India and eligibility to operate in on-site hospital settings.
  • Proven operative experience in arthroplasty, arthroscopy and trauma fixation with documented case exposure.
  • Proficiency with intraoperative imaging (C-arm fluoroscopy) and implant systems.
  • Training or certification in AO principles or equivalent trauma courses.
  • Ability to manage emergency on-site trauma rosters and collaborate across acute care teams.

Preferred

  • Fellowship or focused training in joint replacement, arthroscopy or trauma sub-specialty.
  • Experience with spine surgery, limb reconstruction or minimally invasive orthopaedic techniques.
  • Engagement in clinical research, audits or participation in continuous medical education (CME) activities.
