This role is for an Oracle RAC Database Administrator with a strong background in implementing and managing highly available Oracle RAC environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing 3-node RAC configurations, managing Grid Infrastructure, and providing expert-level support for complex performance and availability issues.
Responsibilities
- Implementation & Architecture: Design and implement 3-node Oracle RAC configurations, including storage, network, and clustering. Plan and execute Oracle Grid Infrastructure installations and configure ASM disk groups. Design and implement Oracle Active Data Guard for disaster recovery and establish robust backup and recovery strategies for RAC environments. Create comprehensive implementation documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Administration & Maintenance: Manage the complete Oracle RAC ecosystem, including Grid Infrastructure, ASM, and database instances. Perform routine maintenance with minimal downtime using rolling patch upgrades. Monitor and tune RAC performance, resolving interconnect, storage, and instance-specific bottlenecks. Configure and maintain Oracle Enterprise Manager for comprehensive RAC monitoring and plan/execute database and Grid Infrastructure upgrades. Implement and manage Oracle GoldenGate for replication requirements.
- Problem Resolution & Support: Provide 24x7 on-call support for critical RAC-related incidents. Troubleshoot complex RAC-specific issues, such as node evictions and split-brain scenarios. Conduct root cause analysis for performance problems or outages and resolve complex database performance issues.
Skills & Experience
- Oracle Database Administration experience with a focus on Oracle RAC implementations.
- Demonstrable experience with 3+ node RAC implementations in enterprise environments.
- Deep expertise with Oracle 19c/23c RAC architecture and components.
- Proficiency with Oracle ASM storage management, Grid Infrastructure, including SCAN listeners and networking components.
- Strong experience with performance tuning, troubleshooting, backup, and recovery strategies for RAC.
- Proficiency with shell scripting for automation of RAC administration tasks.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Data Guard and Oracle Enterprise Manager in RAC environments.
Desired Skills
- Oracle Certified Master (OCM) or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
- Experience with Oracle Exadata or Oracle RAC on virtualized environments.
- Knowledge of Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) best practices.
- Experience with Oracle GoldenGate and bi-directional replication.
- Familiarity with cloud implementations of Oracle RAC (Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure).
- Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 8 years of Oracle Database Administration experience, with at least 5 years focused on Oracle RAC.
- The initial contract period is for 6 months, with the possibility of extension.
- The role requires an immediate start.
