Hiring: Optometrist
Project: TN RIGHTS Project (World Bank Supported)
Department: Commissionerate for Welfare of Differently Abled, Govt. of Tamil Nadu
Location: Tamil Nadu (multi-district travel)
Duration: 0- Minimum 1 Years (If experienced master degree compulsory in Optometry)
Salary: Up to ₹35,000/month + TA/DA as per norms
Role & Responsibilities:
- Develop optometry training modules for vision screening, low vision rehabilitation, pediatric & adult vision care.
- Design training materials: manuals, handbooks, job aids, videos, digital tools, and case studies.
- Field test modules, collect feedback, ensure quality standards and international best practices.
- Identify, train, and mentor master trainers (ToT) across Tamil Nadu.
- Conduct trainings for rehabilitation professionals, home care providers, and families.
- Provide technical guidance, monitoring, mentoring, and quality assurance support.
- Document best practices, outcomes, and program reports.
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Optometry (UGC recognized) with valid registration.
- Minimum 8 years clinical experience (low vision/community eye care preferred).
- Experience in training, curriculum/module development, and capacity building.
- Knowledge of disability inclusion, rehabilitation, assistive technology, and vision therapy.
Preferred:
- 0 - 2+ years experience(Master's in Optometry is mandatory for Experienced).
- If candidate is fresher Bachelor's degree in Optometry is Mandatory
- International certifications, government/development sector experience, publications.
- Tamil language knowledge preferred.
