Title: Operations Manager (Chennai)

Location: Chennai (In-Office)

Compensation: 15 to 18 LPA

Additional Incentive Plan: Incentive Pay+ Benefits+ Equity

As a Operations Manager at Silq, your core priority will be to manage the establishment and administration of a defined set of professional/operational services, programs, and initiatives of key significance to the business.

Primary responsibilities are focused on one or more broadly defined core functional areas, such as freight processes, origin operations team building, establishing relationships with origin partners, negotiating rates & contracts and monitoring performance against operational goals & developing reports/audit processes to analyze effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages, oversees, and performs supervisory tasks to direct and control activities performed to effectively manage the end to end Ocean/Air Freight processes
  • Work with our global teams and freight partners to ensure smooth hand-offs, standardization between regions and best practice alignment
  • Build out origin handling processes for air and ocean shipments for our customers and build the team to execute them
  • Serves as the escalation contact for our team and customer's Ocean/Air Freight shipments; You're the SME! Educate our team and our customers on freight forwarding and more importantly - how Silq is bringing new value to an old industry!
  • Responsible for cross-border air and ocean shipping and delivery of orders in the United States, including international freight arrangements, production of customs declaration documents, customs clearance coordination
  • Pilot building Silq's in-house ocean consolidations program
  • Communicate with overseas sales, operations and other functional departments to grasp the delivery situation as a whole, deal with various problems in the transportation process, deal with abnormal shipments, and update the shipping status in a timely manner
  • Mastermind creative ways to deliver an exceptional client experience; ensure transparency and clear communication with clients enquiries on daily/weekly or needed basis.
  • Establish, maintain, and deepen the cooperative relations with the shipping and forwarding companies
  • Work with shipping partners to ensure timely booking and delivery of shipment
  • Resolve complex client problems or disputes in a professional manner
  • Keep records and documentation of client interactions for training purposes
  • Work with Director of Operations to create monthly and quarterly departmental reports to determine whether KPIs are being met and where there is room for improvement
  • Ability to manage the financial aspects of the department (purchasing, budget preparation and review, financial reporting and monitoring expenses).
  • Responsible to train, develop and motivate employees to peak performance and growth in their knowledge and responsibilities

Requirements:

  • 7+ years logistics operations management experience & freight forwarding. NVOCC experience is good to have.
  • 2+ years of supervisory / leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast pace, professional, team environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize tasks appropriately and in support of project schedules and other deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills – use logical structuring to understand problems and to create sustainable solutions, don't rely on others to tell you what to do.
  • Super organized – never let anything slip through the cracks, time management is your forte.
  • Able to identify, investigate and solve problems that arise in timely manner
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills – communicate to be understood in a concise and clear manner, bring a point of view.
  • Extreme attention to detail – you triple check all emails and deliverables and take pride in getting it right the first time.
  • Proficient with MS office and/or Google Suite
  • Adaptable and flexible – priorities change on a daily or hourly basis, you are able to pivot, adjust your schedule and assume responsibility to take the lead as needed
