Job Description: OpenStack Engineer, L2

Noida | Onsite| 24x7 Rotational Shift

We are hiring senior OpenStack engineers for an onsite deployment at a large production data centre in Noida. This is a second line engineering role carrying full ownership of platform configuration, upgrades and escalations from the L1 support team, on a round the clock support model.

Location

Noida, Uttar Pradesh, onsite at client premises. Candidates must be based in Delhi NCR or willing to relocate.

Shift

24x7 rotational shift, including night shifts. Weekend availability is required as part of the rotation. Willingness to work rotational shifts including weekends is mandatory and will be confirmed at screening.

Experience

4+ years relevant hands on experience

Notice period

20 to 30 days preferred. Candidates on a longer notice will be considered where a buyout is possible.

Education

B.E. / B.Tech / MCA or equivalent in Computer Science, IT or a related discipline.

Engagement

Full time employment, deployed onsite at the client location.

Role Summary

Second line engineering ownership of a production OpenStack private cloud. The engineer will take escalations from L1, carry out root cause analysis, handle platform level configuration and change, run patching and upgrade activity, and drive automation of repeatable operational work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own escalated incidents from L1; perform detailed diagnosis and root cause analysis across compute, network, storage and identity services.
  • Administer and tune core OpenStack services, including Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance, Keystone, Heat and related components.
  • Troubleshoot complex networking issues on Open vSwitch or OVN, provider and tenant networks, routers, floating IPs, security groups, VLAN and VXLAN configuration.
  • Manage storage integration including Cinder backends, Ceph or equivalent enterprise storage, and volume performance and capacity.
  • Plan and execute patching, minor version upgrades and platform maintenance with documented rollback plans.
  • Manage projects, quotas, flavours, aggregates, availability zones and image lifecycle.
  • Perform capacity monitoring and forecasting, flagging headroom and utilisation risks ahead of time.
  • Automate recurring operational tasks using Ansible and scripting to reduce manual effort in the L1 queue.
  • Write and maintain runbooks and SOPs; mentor L1 engineers and improve first line resolution rates.
  • Participate in change management, problem management and post incident reviews.
  • Coordinate with OEM and vendor support for platform level defects and escalations.

Required Skills

  • 4+ years of hands on OpenStack administration in a production environment.
  • Deep working knowledge of Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance and Keystone, including service architecture and inter service dependencies.
  • Strong OpenStack networking skills covering Open vSwitch or OVN, network namespaces, VLAN and VXLAN, load balancing, and the ability to trace a packet path across the stack.
  • Strong Linux administration on RHEL or CentOS, including performance analysis, kernel parameters, systemd, storage and networking configuration.
  • KVM and libvirt troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Ceph or comparable software defined storage integrated with OpenStack.
  • Automation with Ansible; scripting in Bash or Python.
  • Experience with platform upgrades, patching cycles and change management in a production estate.
  • Demonstrated root cause analysis capability, with the ability to document findings clearly.

Preferred

  • Red Hat OpenStack Platform certification, or Red Hat Certified Engineer.
  • Experience with Red Hat OpenStack Platform director or TripleO deployment tooling.
  • Exposure to OpenShift or Kubernetes running alongside OpenStack.
  • Experience in telecom, BFSI or other large regulated data centre environments.
  • Monitoring and log aggregation stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana or ELK.
