Migration Engineer RHEL OpenShift
Role Summary:
Looking for a Migration Engineer to support application/platform migrations from legacy environments to RHEL and OpenShift (OCP). The role involves executing runbook-based migration tasks, performing validations, basic troubleshooting, and coordinating with L2/L3 teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform pre- & postmigration checks on RHEL and OpenShift clusters.
- Execute migration steps as per runbooks and change requests.
- Validate application behavior and log issues for escalation.
- Monitor key OCP components and perform basic troubleshooting (pods, PVCs, nodes, services).
- Run basic oc, Docker, and Podman commands for checks/logs.
- Maintain migration logs, documentation, and reports.
- Collaborate with DevOps, Cloud, Network & Storage teams during migrations.
- Follow ITIL processes (Incident/Change/Problem).
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of Linux (RHEL/CentOS), systemd, SELinux, LVM, networking.
- Knowledge of OpenShift/Kubernetes components, pods, deployments, services, registries.
- Understanding of storage classes, PVC/PV, VMs, VMI, KubeVirt, MTC.
- Handson with CLI, Docker/Podman fundamentals, Linux troubleshooting.
Good to Have
- Exposure to AWS/Azure/GCP.
- Knowledge of Quay/Artifactory/ECR.
- Understanding of ingress, RBAC, secrets, certificates, Git workflows.
Experience & Qualification
- Bachelor's in CS/IT or equivalent.
- RHCSA/RHCE/CKA/CKAD preferred.
