Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Obstetric Care

  • Conduct antenatal check-ups, monitoring fetal development and maternal health.
  • Manage high-risk pregnancies including gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, and multiple gestations.
  • Perform and supervise normal vaginal deliveries, assisted deliveries, and cesarean sections.
  • Manage obstetric emergencies (e.g., postpartum hemorrhage, eclampsia, preterm labor).

2. Gynaecological Care

  • Diagnose and manage gynecologic conditions such as:
  • Menstrual disorders, fibroids, ovarian cysts, PCOS, infertility, pelvic infections, endometriosis, etc.
  • Perform gynecological surgeries: hysterectomy, laparoscopy, myomectomy, D&C, etc.
  • Provide family planning services and contraceptive counselling.

3. Patient Interaction & Counselling

  • Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and families.
  • Educate patients on reproductive health, prenatal care, and preventive screenings.
  • Address fertility issues and guide through treatment options.

4. Clinical Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate patient records, prescriptions, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Ensure adherence to medical protocols, ethical guidelines, and hospital policies.
  • Participate in audits, quality improvement programs, and morbidity/mortality reviews.

5. Multidisciplinary Coordination

  • Collaborate with pediatricians, anesthesiologists, radiologists, and other departments for comprehensive care.
  • Refer patients to super-specialists as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Educational Requirement:
  • MS / DNB / MD in Obstetrics & Gynaecology from a recognized institution
  • Registration:
  • Valid registration with NMC / State Medical Council
  • Experience:
  • 3–10+ years of post-PG clinical experience preferred (depending on seniority level)

Skills & Competencies:

  • Clinical excellence in managing obstetric and gynecologic cases
  • Surgical competence in open and minimally invasive procedures
  • Ability to handle high-pressure emergencies and critical cases
  • Empathetic patient communication and counseling
  • Strong teamwork and coordination with multidisciplinary teams
  • Familiarity with hospital EMR systems and documentation standards
