The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality nursing care across all patient care areas during assigned shifts. The role involves supervising nursing staff, ensuring adherence to hospital policies, coordinating patient care activities, and maintaining clinical standards.
- Supervise nursing staff across wards, ICU, emergency, and other clinical departments during the shift.
- Ensure patient care is delivered according to hospital protocols, nursing standards, and clinical guidelines.
- Monitor nursing documentation, medication administration, and treatment compliance.
- Provide guidance and clinical support to staff nurses in patient care management.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels and coordinate shift allocations when required.
- Ensure proper handover between shifts
- Act as Manager on Duty for the hospital during assigned shifts.
- Serve as the first point of contact for operational issues, patient complaints, and service escalations.
- Coordinate between departments including nursing, medical, housekeeping, security, and administration.
- Ensure smooth functioning of hospital services throughout the shift.
- Handle emergency situations and coordinate response with clinical and support teams.
- Escalate critical issues to hospital management as per escalation protocol
- Ensure continuity and quality of patient care across departments.
- Address patient and family concerns promptly and professionally.
- Monitor patient safety practices and ensure adherence to infection control policies.
- Ensure timely response to patient emergencies or code situations.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor adherence to infection prevention and control practices.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits.
- Report incidents, adverse events, and near misses as per hospital protocol
- Supervise performance of nursing staff during the shift.
- Provide on-the-spot guidance, coaching, and conflict resolution.
- Ensure discipline, punctuality, and professional conduct among nursing staff.
- Assist in training and orientation of new nurses
- Maintain shift reports and nursing supervisor logs.
- Ensure proper functioning of equipment and report breakdowns.
- Coordinate bed management and patient admissions during the shift.
- Ensure compliance with documentation and reporting standards
Qualifications
Qualification: GNM / BSc Nursing with KNC Registration
