General Background:
The Network Consultant is responsible for providing direction and implementation tasks supporting the Virtual Migrations and reports directly to the Network Lead. The network consultant will be a key member of a wider network team consisting of both Cisco and VMware NSX consultants. The network consultant will be expected to
both help design and implement network transformation between legacy Cisco NX-OS, NSX-V to Cisco ACI, NSX-T platforms. Discovery and migration support across Networks, Load Balancers and Firewalls will also form part of the role. Existing VxBlock and VxRail technologies would be an advantage.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Lead the design of complex Network Integration, migration project work!
- Responsible and Accountable for the production high- and low-level designs to help deliver the solutions required by the project and customer.
- Work with planning on pre-review of migration bundles
- Attend the migration governance meetings!
- Assist KANBAN and backlog creation and tracking!
- Preparation for delivery and execution
- Raise risks and issues with options to address and record on the MS Teams RAID board!
- Performance Metrics gathering and analysis.
- Participate in migration events!
- Network sign-off on all bundles prior to Squad handover
- Raise Lessons Learned and Risk / Issues where required!
- Acts as technical escalation point during Migration Event weekends.
- Technical SME
- Attends Post Implementation Review (PIR) after migrations have been executed as technical SME.
- Leverage previous experience to bring forth best practices and solutions to the project team and contribute to enhancing existing methodologies.
- Any tasks assigned by TDA or Programme Leads.
- Raise technical challenges in the appropriate forum.
- Ensure critical issues are escalated.
- Adhering to the Architecture Board Governance
Essential Skill Requirements:
- Expert Level Certification Data Centre networks both traditional and SDN
- Cisco IOS, NX-OS, Fabric Path and ACI expertise
- F5 Load Balancer
- Fortinet Firewall
- Proven Track record of leading complex Network projects
- Ability to Lead, design, implement, troubleshoot Network infrastructure.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams at once
- Capable of producing (via governance) High Level and Low Designs
- Proven track record in a complex multi-vendor network using technologies as TCP/IP, static routing, Layer 2/3 Switching/Routing protocols.
- In-depth understanding and practical knowledge of Networking systems such as LAN, firewalls, routers
