Role & Responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based outpatient and inpatient neurological care, diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions including stroke, epilepsy, neuroimmunology, movement disorders, and neuromuscular disease.
- Lead acute stroke assessment and management: triage, eligibility evaluation for IV thrombolysis, coordination with interventional teams, and implementation of stroke pathway protocols.
- Perform and interpret neurodiagnostic procedures (EEG, EMG/NCS, lumbar puncture) and review neuroimaging to formulate treatment plans and guide inpatient management.
- Provide neurocritical care oversight on the on-call roster, manage neurological emergencies, and collaborate closely with ICU, neuroradiology, neurosurgery, and rehabilitation teams.
- Supervise, mentor, and teach junior doctors, residents, and allied health staff; contribute to clinical governance, documentation standards, and morbidity & mortality reviews.
- Participate in departmental quality improvement, clinical audits, protocol development, and support teleconsultation or outreach clinics as required.
Skills & Qualifications Must-Have
- MBBS with MD/DNB in Neurology or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
- Proven clinical competence in acute stroke care and emergency neurology protocols.
- Proficiency in EEG interpretation and electrodiagnostic testing (EMG/NCS).
- Skilled in lumbar puncture and interpretation of cerebrospinal fluid studies.
- Ability to interpret brain and spine imaging (MRI/CT) for diagnostic decision-making.
- ACLS and BLS certification.
Preferred
- Fellowship or formal training in stroke, epilepsy, movement disorders, neurocritical care, or neuromuscular medicine.
- Experience administering botulinum toxin for movement disorders and spasticity clinics.
- Record of involvement in clinical research, teaching, or departmental leadership initiatives.
