Who we are looking for

As part of the Network Management - Subcustody Billing team within the Product organization in India, the Assistant Vice President (AVP) will provide strategic, operational, and people leadership across the subcustodian billing function.

The role will have end-to-end responsibility of subcustody invoice processing, including governance, risk management, stakeholder engagement, and transformation initiatives such as continued enhancement of the Myriad billing platform.

The AVP partners closely with Network Management leadership, Product, Technology, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and senior stakeholders to ensure accurate invoicing, strong controls, scalable processes, and continuous improvement.

The AVP is expected to act as a functional leader and subject matter authority, drive operational excellence, manage senior escalations, mentor staff, and contribute to strategic initiatives aligned with State Street's broader objectives.

The Network Management Subcustody Billing function plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and financial control of subcustodian expense, which directly impacts State Street's profitability, risk controls, and regulatory compliance.

As an AVP, you will help strengthen governance, build operational resilience, lead transformation initiatives, and shape the future-state operating model. Your leadership will be instrumental in balancing BAU stability, risk mitigation, and strategic change, while developing a high-performing team that deliver at scale.

What you will be responsible for

  • Provide overall oversight of sub custodian invoice validation and reconciliation against signed fee schedules across markets

  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant billing outputs, including payment instructions and reconciliations

  • Own end-to-end billing BAU performance, capacity planning, and SLA adherence

  • Review complex or high-risk invoices, fee disputes, and non-standard billing scenarios

Governance, Risk & Controls

  • Own and strengthen the control framework across sub custody billing processes

  • Identify operational, financial, and regulatory risks ensure appropriate mitigations and documentation

  • Act as escalation point for audit, compliance, risk, and control-related queries

  • Drive continuous improvement in error avoidance, root-cause analysis, and preventive controls

Stakeholder & Senior Management Engagement

  • Partner with Network Management, Business Groups, Product, Technology, Risk, and Finance teams

  • Represent the billing function in senior governance forums, project steering committees, and management reviews

  • Proactively manage escalations with internal stakeholders and external subcustodians

  • Provide clear, data-driven updates to senior leadership on performance, risks, and initiatives

Change, Transformation & Projects

  • Lead and sponsor strategic initiatives and change programs, including Myriad enhancements and automation efforts

  • Ensure change initiatives are delivered with minimal BAU disruption and strong control adherence

  • Drive standardization and scalability across markets and regions

People Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead, mentor and develop staff within the team

  • Set clear performance expectations, conduct reviews, and support career progression

  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration

  • Build succession plans and ensure knowledge continuity across critical processes

Strategic Contribution

  • Contribute to organizational strategy discussions related to cost management, vendor governance, and operational efficiency

  • Support business cases, investment proposals, and executive-level presentations

  • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on billing-related impacts to clients and business outcomes

Additional requirements

  • Extensive experience in Billing Operations / Sub Custody Billing Operations

  • Strong understanding of operational risk, controls, and audit expectations

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel experience with workflow and billing systems preferred

  • Prior experience with Myriad or/and Sub Custody Billing Application or similar billing platforms is a strong advantage

  • Project / Program management experience is highly desirable

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment

  • Team follows 12:00-21:00 IST shift and India holiday calendar

  • Work location: Bangalore
