Role Overview
Security Consultants play a critical role in protecting organizations from evolving cyber threats. As an F5 WAF Security Consultant, you will design, implement, and manage web application security solutions that safeguard confidentiality, integrity, and availability across customer environments.
You will work closely with customers, developers, and infrastructure teams to assess security posture, mitigate OWASP Top 10 risks, respond to incidents, and continuously strengthen web application defenses.
Key Roles & Responsibilities :
WAF Policy Management
- Design, configure, and manage F5 WAF policies to protect against OWASP Top 10 threats (SQL Injection, XSS, CSRF, etc.)
- Define and enforce WAF security standards, procedures, and guidelines
Web Application Security & Tuning
- Create and manage web application profiles
- Fine-tune WAF policies to reduce false positives and negatives
Security Monitoring & Incident Response
- Monitor WAF logs and security events
- Investigate incidents and recommend remediation actions
Vulnerability & Risk Management
- Identify web application vulnerabilities and collaborate with development teams for remediation
- Conduct security assessments, audits, and reviews
Configuration & Change Management
- Manage WAF configuration changes, version control, backups, and recovery
- Ensure alignment with industry and organizational best practices
Performance Optimization
- Optimize WAF performance with minimal impact on application availability
- Troubleshoot WAF-related issues and coordinate with F5 support teams
Compliance & Reporting
- Generate security and compliance reports (PCI-DSS, HIPAA, etc.)
- Provide metrics and insights to stakeholders
Product Maintenance & Continuous Improvement
- Perform F5 WAF upgrades, patching, and maintenance
- Stay current with F5 product updates, features, and security trends
Required Skills & Expertise :
- Strong hands-on experience with F5 WAF (ASM / Advanced WAF)
- Solid understanding of OWASP Top 10
- Experience in security event monitoring and incident handling
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks (PCI-DSS, HIPAA)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
Preferred Skills :
- Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) and Data Center experience
- Experience designing and implementing SDN and large-scale networks
- Knowledge of networking technologies:
- BGP, OSPF, MP-BGP EVPN, VXLAN, vPC
Certifications :
- F5-301 / F5-303
- Other industry-leading OEM professional certifications
