Job Title: Network Engineer (L2)
Location: Dayananda Sagar University (DSU) Central IT Team
Reporting To: CTO / CIO
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled L2 Network Engineer to manage and optimize DSU's enterprise network infrastructure across multiple campuses. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, firewall administration, cloud-managed network solutions, and troubleshooting complex network issues. This role involves ensuring high availability, security, and scalability of DSU's network environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Core, Distribution, and Access Layer switches (Cisco, Aruba, HP, Arista, etc.).
- Administer and maintain firewall policies, NAT rules, and VPN configurations.
- Implement and manage VPN IPsec tunnels, MFA, and secure remote access solutions.
- Manage cloud-based network controllers (e.g., Aruba Central, Cisco DNA Center, Arista CloudVision).
- Monitor network performance, uptime, and latency across all campuses using advanced monitoring tools.
- Perform network segmentation, VLAN configuration, and implement routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).
- Conduct regular network audits, vulnerability assessments, and ensure compliance with IT security standards.
- Coordinate with ISPs and vendors for bandwidth provisioning and service delivery.
- Maintain and update network topology diagrams, documentation, and configuration backups.
- Provide L2 support for escalated network issues from IT teams and ensure timely resolution.
- Assist in network expansion projects, including design and deployment of new infrastructure.
- Ensure adherence to DSU's IT governance and cybersecurity policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 35 years in enterprise network management.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, STP, OSPF, BGP, ACLs.
- Hands-on experience with firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Sophos, etc.).
- Familiarity with cloud-managed networking platforms.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent preferred.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python scripts).
- Knowledge of Wi-Fi controllers and wireless network optimization.
- Exposure to SD-WAN technologies.
- Ability to work in a multi-campus environment with complex network topologies.
