About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to join our team in a critical role supporting a low-latency trading environment. This position involves managing and optimizing high-performance network infrastructure within a fast-paced, live trading setup. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in routing, switching, security, and network automation, with experience supporting financial trading systems or similar latency-sensitive environments. You will work closely with trading and systems teams to ensure the network is resilient, secure, and capable of delivering real-time data flow essential for algorithmic trading operations. Your expertise will directly impact the efficiency and success of trading strategies by maintaining optimal network performance and security.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Between 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in network engineering or related roles.
- Professional certification such as CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of routing and switching protocols including VLANs, Inter VLAN routing, VTP, STP, EtherChannel, Layer 3 routing, BGP, and other dynamic routing protocols.
- Hands-on experience with firewall platforms such as Cisco ASA and Palo Alto Networks, including configuration and security management.
- Proficiency with VPN technologies, including IPSec, SSL, and Site-to-Site VPNs.
- Solid understanding of Linux operating systems, scripting skills in Shell and Python for automation tasks.
- Experience with network monitoring tools and performance optimization, preferably within financial services or trading environments.
- Knowledge of multicast routing protocols such as PIM and IGMP.
- Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS is considered an advantage.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to work under pressure, and manage multiple high-priority projects effectively.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive attitude towards learning and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize network performance to ensure low latency and high reliability in a trading environment.
- Configure, install, and maintain network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPN gateways.
- Provide hands-on support for production network issues across data centers, colocation facilities, offices, and trading floors.
- Drive network automation initiatives by scripting configuration updates and managing infrastructure devices efficiently.
- Support and administer firewall environments to maintain security and compliance standards.
- Perform firmware upgrades and hardware replacements to ensure network stability and performance.
- Support Linux-based servers, including system monitoring, hardware changes, software installations, and upgrades.
- Implement multicast routing protocols such as PIM and IGMP to facilitate efficient data distribution.
- Collaborate with trading and systems teams to design and implement resilient network solutions tailored to latency-sensitive applications.
- Maintain documentation of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for continuous improvement.
- Stay updated on the latest networking technologies, security threats, and industry best practices to enhance network infrastructure.
