Job Title: Enterprise Wireless & Network Operations Consultant
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Wireless & Network Operations Consultant to support and enhance our network infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of enterprise network services through proactive monitoring, rapid incident response, and structured change management practices.
The consultant will operate across both operations (L2) and advanced engineering (L3) functions, collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to deliver high-quality network services.
Key Responsibilities
Tier 2: Network Operations & Monitoring
- Manage end-to-end incident lifecycle using ServiceNow, including intake, categorization, prioritization, and tracking.
- Perform real-time monitoring of network infrastructure (Juniper EX/QFX switches, Palo Alto firewalls) using SNMP and Syslog.
- Execute standard service requests such as port provisioning, VLAN configuration, and wireless guest access support.
- Ensure timely escalation of incidents to Tier 2 teams or OEM vendors (Juniper JTAC, Palo Alto TAC) in line with SLAs.
Tier 3: Advanced Network Engineering
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex Layer 2/Layer 3 issues, including:
- Virtual Chassis (VC) failures
- Spanning Tree Protocol(STP) loops
- OSPF/BGP routing issues
- Manage network security operations, including:
- Palo Alto firewall policies (Security/NAT)
- IPsec VPN tunnel stability and performance
- Optimize and support enterprise wireless environments, including controller configurations and client connectivity issues.
- Perform network lifecycle management, including firmware upgrades and patching (Junos OS, PAN-OS).
- Design, document, and implement Change Requests(CRs) in ServiceNow with detailed testing and rollback plans.
Required Technical Skills
- Switching: Juniper EX & QFX Series, Junos OS
- Security: Palo Alto Firewalls (PA-Series), Panorama
- Wireless: Enterprise WLAN (Mist, Aruba),802.1X authentication
- SDWAN - Silverpeak
- ITSM Tools: ServiceNow (Incident, Change, Request Management)
- Networking Protocols &Services: DNS, DHCP, IPAM, SNMP, BGP, OSPF, LACP
Service Level Expectations
- Respond to critical incidents (P1) within 15 minutes; target resolution within 4 hours
- Respond to high-priority incidents (P2) within 30 minutes; target resolution within 8 hours
- Ensure timely patching compliance for all critical security updates
- Maintain 100% adherence to change management processes, including documentation and approvals
Key Deliverables
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operational tasks
- Provide monthly operational reports covering ticket trends, SLA performance, and network availability
- Maintain a quarterly patching and upgrade roadmap for all network infrastructure
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong experience in enterprise network operations and wireless environments
- Hands-on expertise with Juniper and Palo Alto technologies
- Proven ability to work within SLA-driven environments
