What You'll Do

The Network L3 Operations Engineer is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, escalations, and maintenance of complex network infrastructures. This role ensures high availability, stability, and performance of enterprise or datacenter networks by acting as the final escalation point for L1/L2 teams, driving root-cause analysis, and leading network improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

Operational Support & Troubleshooting

Handle L3 escalations from NOC/L2 teams for critical and high-impact network issues.

Perform deep-dive troubleshooting across WAN, LAN, WLAN, datacenter, and security network domains.

Resolving network connectivity problems & Troubleshooting LAN/WAN/Wireless problems including core routers, switches, access points, and any other network devices.

Lead incident bridges and drive resolution for P1/P2 network outages.

Conduct detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes.

Work on problem Management cases to implement preventive actionable.

Network Maintenance & Optimization

Manage and optimize enterprise routing and switching environments (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, STP, VXLAN, etc.).

Perform proactive network health checks, performance tuning, and capacity planning.

Oversee software upgrades, patches, and release managment implementations.

Network Implementation Support

Work with Architecture/Engineering teams for network design changes.

Evaluate new solutions, perform impact analysis, and support deployment of new network technologies.

Create and maintain detailed network diagrams and documentation.

Automation & Process Improvement

Develop scripts for automation (Python, Ansible, APIs) to improve operational efficiency.

Standardize configurations and enforce network compliance with defined policies.

Enhance monitoring and alerting (SolarWinds, IMC, DNAC etc.).

Review and create SOP for Network operations

Security & Governance

Support firewall, VPN, and IPS/IDS operations as part of advanced troubleshooting.

Ensure compliance with network security frameworks and audit requirements.

Participate in DR/BCP planning and execution

What You Need To Bring

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise

Strong Hands-on Experience With Enterprise-level Routing & Switching

Cisco (IOS, IOS-XE, Nexus NX-OS), HPE Aruba

HPE Comware,

Cisco Wireless

LLB knowledge would be a preference

Basic knowledge of Firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco Firepower)

Deep Understanding Of

OSPF, MPLS, VRF, VxLAN, QoS, Multicast

Load balancers (F5/Radware)

Cisco Wireless Technologies ( AP's, Wireless controller)

Proficient in packet analysis tools (Wireshark, tcpdump).

Knowledge with automation Python is a strong advantage.

Soft Skills

Strong problem-solving and analytical ability.

Customer centric skills

Excellent communication for handling high-severity outages.

Ability to guide and mentor L1/L2 teams.

Certifications (Preferred But Not Mandatory)

CCNA/CCNP Certified

Wireless certification

ITIL v4 Foundation

Work Environment

24/7 operations with rotational shifts (if applicable).

On-call support for major incidents.
