We are expanding our IT Operations team and seeking an experienced
Network Administrator who can ensure secure, robust, and high-performing network operations.
Job Description
The
Network Administrator will be responsible for designing, configuring, securing, and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure. This includes
Cisco Catalyst & Nexus switches, Fortinet firewalls with IDS/IPS & UTM features, VLAN architectures, routing, VPNs, and open-source monitoring/security platforms.
Basic understanding of virtualization (VMware ESXi) is also required.
This role demands a hands-on professional who can troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance network performance and security proactively.
Key Responsibilities
- Fortinet Firewall (FortiGate) Administration
The candidate must have strong real-world experience in managing Fortinet firewalls with built-in IDS/IPS and UTM modules.
Firewall Configuration & Operations
- Configure, optimize, and audit firewall policies, NAT rules, VIPs, and address groups.
- Ensure proper rule ordering, tagging, comments, and routine cleanup.
IDS/IPS & UTM Management
- Configure and fine-tune Fortinet IDS/IPS profiles (signature optimization, severity tuning, false-positive reduction).
- Manage UTM security features including:
- Web Filtering
- DNS Filtering
- Application Control
- SSL Inspection
- Antivirus inspections
- Monitor triggered events and take timely corrective action.
SD-WAN, Routing & VPN
- Configure SD-WAN rules, SLA-based routing, failover, health checks, and traffic steering.
- Manage IPSec and SSL VPN tunnels (user/group-based access, MFA integration, troubleshooting).
- Perform ISP link monitoring, routing adjustments, and policy-based routing.
High Availability (HA)
- Configure and maintain Active–Passive or Active–Active HA clusters.
- Conduct routine failover tests, sync checks, and health validations.
Troubleshooting & Logging
- Use advanced FortiGate tools (diag debug, flow tracing, packet capture) for troubleshooting.
- Stream logs to SIEM/Monitoring platforms for analysis.
- Cisco Catalyst & Nexus Switch Administration
The candidate must have deep experience handling enterprise switching environments.
Core L2/L3 Responsibilities
- Configure VLANs, trunking, EtherChannel/LACP, Inter-VLAN routing, STP (RSTP/MST), and SVI optimization.
- Implement redundancy using HSRP/VRRP.
Nexus (Data Center) Expertise
- Manage NX-OS configurations including:
- vPC
- FEX integration
- Port profiles
- Layer-2/3 data center architectures
Network Security Hardening
- Implement and troubleshoot edge security controls:
- Port Security
- DHCP Snooping
- Dynamic ARP Inspection
- IP Source Guard
- Storm Control
- ACLs
Diagnostics & Root Cause Analysis
- Analyze MAC/ARP tables, STP topology, interface errors (CRC, drops), CPU spikes.
- Perform rollback, config diffs, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Security & Monitoring Using Open-Source Tools
The candidate must have practical hands-on experience with open-source platforms that provide observability, monitoring, and security analytics.
Monitoring & Dashboards
- Deploy, configure & maintain:
- Prometheus (SNMP, node exporters, blackbox checks)
- Grafana dashboards for switches, firewalls, VPN, ESXi, and servers
- Zabbix triggers & alerting rules
Centralized Logging & SIEM
- Manage and optimize:
- ELK / OpenSearch / Graylog for log ingestion & analysis
- Wazuh SIEM for endpoint visibility, FIM, compliance & threat detection
- Integrate Fortinet firewall logs with SIEM for actionable insights.
Open-Source Security Visibility
- Optional but preferred: familiarity with pfSense/OPNsense, Suricata, Snort for lab/testing or supplementary monitoring.
Outcome
The candidate should provide a robust security monitoring ecosystem with real-time alerting, analytics, and risk visibility.
- Basic Virtualization (VMware)
Responsibilities
Basic working experience with virtualization technologies is required.
- Create, modify, and manage VMs on VMware ESXi/vCenter.
- Perform VM-level tasks:
- Snapshots
- Resource allocation (CPU/RAM/Storage)
- Port group/VLAN assignment
- Troubleshoot common virtualization-related issues.
- Coordinate escalations with VMware/system administrators as needed.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Electronics, or related fields.
Experience
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in network administration.
Technical Must-Haves
- Strong hands-on experience with Fortinet (FortiGate) firewalls.
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst & Nexus switches.
- Practical experience with open-source monitoring/security tools.
- Basic virtualization knowledge (VMware).
Preferred Certifications
- Cisco CCNA / CCNP (Must Have)
- Fortinet NSE 4+
- VMware VCP (optional)
- Linux/Monitoring/Security-related certifications
