Netapp Storage and Backup

• Perform run-the-business SAN administrative duties, including upgrades, standard allocations, port allocations/zoning, break-fix, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Resource knowledge on Backup Management
• Participate in large scale component upgrades, datacenter migrations, and similar enterprise initiatives.
• Develop, communicate, and monitor the operational standards and procedures for backups. Perform all routine administrative and operational tasks
• Manage current storage environment.
• Incorporates disk, tape, SAN, ISCSI and storage software.
• Resolve storage short falls.
• Alert and resolve performance issues and advise end users.
• High availability of data to all applications.
• Data Migrations & Replication.
• Work with application developers to determine storage requirements.
• Work with existing programmers, System Administrators and DBAs to optimize storage.
• Maintain proper backup schedules. Restore and recover data as requested. Facilitate off-site storage of tape.
• Disk usage, Performance, Storage availability, reporting on status, forecast pipeline of storage growth.
• Determine allocation of different storage and service tiers.
• Responsible for planning and execution of the storage installation.
• Perform any host-level tasks need to access new storage.
• Extensive experience deploying mission critical servers in a 247 production environment.
• Mentor and create documentation/knowledge base articles for routine tasks and troubleshoot on the infrastructure under support.

Backup Skills

• Lead daily operations and administration of Veritas NetBackup, including Flex Appliances, traditional NetBackup Appliances, and legacy deployments.
• Manage backup policies, schedules, and retention configurations across heterogeneous workloads and platforms.
• Oversee backup storage targets tape libraries, disk storage, and Flex storage ensuring optimal performance and utilization.
• Plan and execute NetBackup upgrades, patching, and migrations from legacy to modern appliance-based environments.
• Troubleshoot backup/restore failures, media issues, and catalog inconsistencies, ensuring SLA compliance.
• Coordinate disaster recovery simulations and validate end-to-end restore capabilities for critical systems.
• Monitor and tune backup performance, deduplication efficiency, and storage consumption.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, storage, and application teams to align protection policies with business requirements.
• Implement and maintain encryption, access control, and data protection compliance across all backup components.
• Manage vendor engagement for Veritas and hardware support, including firmware upgrades and case resolutions.
• Maintain operational documentation, topology maps, and SOPs for all backup infrastructure components.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to backup administrators and ensure consistent operational practices across environments.
• Administration of backup data replication topology.
