Job Description

Job Title :Level 3 NDT Engineer

Grade :Manager/Dy. Manager /Assistant Manager

Reporting to :Quality Head

Location :Mundhwa, Pune (Corporate office)

CTC 20 to 25 LPA

Purpose

A Level 3 NDT Technician in the open forging industry is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing non-destructive testing (NDT) procedures, techniques, and standards within a forging facility. This role involves a high level of technical expertise, including the ability to interpret codes and standards, train Level I and II technicians, and collaborate with engineers and quality assurance teams.

Responsibilities

1) Procedure Development: Develop and implement NDT procedures, techniques, and methodologies to meet forging industry standards and it's customer requirements.

2) Training and Supervision: Train and mentor Level, I and II NDT technicians, ensuring they meet competency standards.

3) Technical Support: Provide technical guidance and support to Level I and II technicians, addressing questions and resolving issues related to NDT procedures.

4) Interpretation and Evaluation: Interpret NDT test results, identify defects, and determine if parts meet quality standards.

5) Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed NDT reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.

6) Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the proper calibration and maintenance of NDT equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

7) Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant codes, standards, and regulations related to NDT.

8) Collaboration: Collaborate with engineers, quality assurance teams, and other stakeholders to address technical issues and ensure quality control.

9) Problem Solving: Identify and resolve issues related to NDT procedures, techniques, or equipment.

10) Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of NDT processes and procedures, optimizing efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Metallurgy/ Mechanical Engineering with 5-8 years of experience in Mechanical industry in Quality Management and Manufacturing Operations.
  • Knowledge or certification in Non-destructive testing methods preferred

Knowledge and Skills

  • ASNT Level III Certification: Must hold current ASNT Level III certification in relevant NDT methods (e.g., UT, MT, PT, RT,VT).
  • Extensive Experience: Significant experience in NDT techniques, particularly in the open forging industry.
  • Technical Expertise: Thorough understanding of various NDT methods, codes, and standards.
  • Training and Mentoring Skills: Ability to effectively train and mentor Level I and II technicians.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively document reports, communicate technical information, and collaborate with other teams.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve technical issues related to NDT processes.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret NDT results and make informed decisions about the quality of forgings.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in relevant software packages (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Safety Knowledge: Thorough understanding of safety procedures and regulations related to NDT.
