THE PERSON: 

The Platform Drivers team is on lookout for a dynamic, energetic software engineer who can design, develop, and maintain clean and robust code. If you understand the intricacies of Linux kernel and device drivers, this is the role for you. Join us!

As a key contributor to the success of AMD's IP, you will be part of a leading team to drive and enhance AMD's abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry leading technologies to market.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Linux kernel, focusing on UFS (Universal Flash Storage) 3.1, Host Memory Buffer (HMB) architecture, and related subsystems.
  2. Develop, test, and optimize kernel patches for UFS, xHCI, Thunderbolt, and UCSI subsystems to enhance performance, reliability, and functionality.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features and improvements in the Linux kernel.
  4. Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
  5. Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to UFS, HMB, xHCI, Thunderbolt, and UCSI in the Linux kernel.
  6. Stay updated with the latest developments in the Linux kernel community and contribute to upstream projects.
  7. Document design specifications, technical details, and user guides for developed features and patches. 

 PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  1. Proven experience in Linux kernel development with a focus on UFS 3.1 and HMB architecture.
  2. Strong understanding of xHCI, Thunderbolt, and UCSI subsystems within the Linux kernel.
  3. Demonstrated contributions to Linux kernel patches and upstream projects.
  4. Proficiency in C programming and kernel debugging tools.
  5. Solid understanding of computer architecture, storage technologies, and I/O subsystems.
  6. Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
  7. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  8. Contributions to other Linux kernel subsystems or related open-source projects.
  9. Python, Shell Scripting an added advantage
  10. Experience with open-source development and community engagement.
  11. Familiarity with other storage technologies and protocols.

 ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelors/master's in engineering.
  • At least 7+ years of job experience, with at least 5+ years of Linux driver development experience.
