MSSQL Database Administrator

Role purpose

As Database Administrator, you will operate, optimize, and ensure the availability of accelya's cloud databases. Additionally, you will plan and execute the seamless migration of on-premise databases to the cloud. You will work in a small team and execute Accelya's cloud data strategy in line with Accelyas global business strategy, values and missions. The successful candidate will need to execute changes and meet performance targets while maintaining the ongoing satisfaction of Accelya's global airline partners.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Build and manage our AWS RDS Aurora PostgreSQL and MSSQL database instances.
• Candidate should have in-depth knowledge of relational database design and the internal architectures of Postgres server and MSSQL server, with working experience for both on prem and in AWS RDS environments.
• Experience with database migration services (DMS) and using Babelfish for Aurora PostgreSQL a plus.
• Knowledge of Python and PowerShell a plus.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

• Proactive data-centric analytical approach to monitoring database performance and troubleshooting issues.
• Work cross-functionally with other team members to optimize queries, fix performance bottlenecks, improve existing schemas and design new database architectures.
• Create and maintain change control and testing processes, reviewing and approving database modifications.
• Create and maintaining documentation, testing failover and recovery plans.
• Experience supporting a 24x7 production environment.
• Understanding of virtualized and clustered environments.
