As our content ecosystem continues to grow, we're looking for motion designers who are excited to create meaningful learning experiences through animation, video and visual storytelling.

About the Role

We're looking for a Motion Designer with a strong foundation in motion design, animation and video editing to create engaging learning experiences for our learners.

This role involves taking complex technical concepts, course content and subject matter expert inputs and translating them into clear, structured and visually engaging videos. You'll work closely with instructional designers, subject matter experts and other designers to develop everything from educational explainers and animated lessons to edited videos, trailers, promos and other motion-led learning assets.

While motion design and video editing are the core skills for this role, we're also looking for someone with a good understanding of visual design and an interest in expanding their creative skill set across different mediums.

As part of our team's evolution, we're also embracing AI-enabled creative workflows. Prior experience with AI tools is a plus, but curiosity, adaptability and a willingness to experiment are more important.

What You'll Work On

• Design and produce learning videos, motion graphics and educational animations.
• Edit and produce video content using footage, screen recordings, voiceovers, graphics and other source material.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear and engaging visual narratives.
• Develop storyboards, visual treatments and animation concepts for learning content.
• Create explainer videos, animated lessons, trailers, promos, GIFs and other motion-led content formats.
• Work closely with instructional designers and subject matter experts to understand learning objectives and translate them into effective visual experiences.
• Apply principles of animation, timing, pacing, composition, typography and visual storytelling across different types of content.
• Create and adapt visual assets in line with Novatr's brand guidelines and established design systems.
• Build reusable templates and production workflows to improve consistency and scalability.
• Explore AI-assisted workflows to improve creative quality, speed and production efficiency.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute ideas that improve how our team creates and delivers learning content.

What We're Looking For

• 1 - 4 years of professional experience in Motion Design, Animation, Video Design or a related field.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating motion design and video editing, with examples of storytelling, animation and visual communication.
• Strong proficiency in Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro.
• Good understanding of animation and motion design principles, including timing, easing, transitions, pacing and visual hierarchy.
• Strong understanding of video editing, storytelling and narrative structure.
• Ability to create and interpret storyboards and translate concepts into finished motion pieces.
• Good understanding of design fundamentals including typography, composition, hierarchy and colour.
• Familiarity with Illustrator and Photoshop for creating and preparing visual assets.
• Experience with Figma or willingness to learn.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work within defined timelines.
• A growth mindset and curiosity to continuously learn new tools and workflows.

Bonus Points If You Have

• Experience creating educational, instructional or learning content.
• Experience working with technical, architectural, engineering or other complex subject matter.
• Illustration or 3D skills.
• Experience with tools such as Blender, Cinema 4D or other 3D software.
• Familiarity with AI tools for motion design, video editing, content creation or productivity.
• Experience building reusable animation templates, design systems or production workflows.
• Basic understanding of visual design, UI/UX or web design.
