Job Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling all manufacturing processes in a modular furniture factory. The role ensures efficient production, optimal resource utilization, adherence to quality standards, and timely delivery of finished products as per project requirements.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage end-to-end production activities for modular furniture manufacturing
  • Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on project timelines
  • Coordinate with design, procurement, and store teams for seamless production flow
  • Ensure availability of raw materials, hardware, and consumables before production planning
  • Monitor production processes including cutting, edge banding, drilling, assembly, and finishing
  • Optimize machine utilization, manpower allocation, and production efficiency
  • Implement and maintain quality control standards across all production stages
  • Supervise factory staff, operators, and supervisors to ensure productivity and discipline
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements to enhance output
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and proper machine handling practices
  • Track production KPIs such as output, wastage, rejection rate, and turnaround time
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure machinery uptime and preventive maintenance
  • Ensure proper documentation of production reports, work orders, and inventory consumption
  • Support new product development and prototype execution
  • Work closely with the service/installation team to ensure smooth project handover

Requirements

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of modular furniture manufacturing processes
  • Expertise in production planning and control (PPC)
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of factory machinery (CNC, beam saw, edge bander, drilling machines, etc.)
  • Understanding of materials like MDF, plywood, laminates, and hardware
  • Problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Strong coordination and communication skills
  • Knowledge of quality control and safety standards

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field
  • 712 years of experience in modular furniture manufacturing or similar industry
  • Minimum 35 years in a leadership/managerial role

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in modular factory setup or scaling production operations
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for production planning
  • Lean manufacturing or process improvement knowledge
