Middleware & Integration Architect - Healthcare Platform

We're building the foundational integration platform for world's next-generation Rehabilitation

Management System from the ground up. As our Middleware Architect, you'll design and implement

the central nervous system that connects medical devices, diagnostic equipment, laboratory systems,

and external healthcare partners with our core therapeutic platform.

This isn't about patching together existing systemsyou'll architect the integration framework that

ensures our platform remains stable, scalable, and audit-compliant as we grow across

Global healthcare facilities.

Core Integration Architecture:

Design and implement the central middleware platform using Python (FastAPI/Django)

Establish clear service boundaries between core therapeutic systems and external

integrations

Define canonical data models for healthcare data exchange (HL7 FHIR, custom schemas)

Implement API Gateway patterns with Kong/Tyk/NGINX for traffic management

API & Event-Driven Design:

Build RESTful APIs with OpenAPI/Swagger specifications

Implement event-driven architectures using Kafka/RabbitMQ for real-time data flows

Design WebSocket channels for medical device telemetry

Establish API versioning strategies and backward compatibility policies

Medical Device Integration:

Create adapter patterns for device-agnostic connectivity (HL7, DICOM, proprietary protocols)

Implement normalization layers for heterogeneous device data

Design real-time monitoring for connected medical equipment

Build fault-tolerant connection handling for unreliable network environments

Healthcare Data & Compliance:

Design audit trails for PHI (Protected Health Information) data flows

Implement data validation and transformation pipelines

Build HIPAA/MHRA-compliant logging and traceability systems

Create data persistence strategies for integration-specific schemas

Technical Stack You'll Work With:

Primary: Python 3.9+, FastAPI, Django REST Framework, PostgreSQL, Redis

Messaging: Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, WebSockets

Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP, Terraform

Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, OpenTelemetry

Healthcare Standards: HL7 FHIR, DICOM, IHE profiles

Technical Requirements:

5+ years designing and implementing integration/middleware platforms

Production experience with Python backend systems (FastAPI preferred)

Strong understanding of REST API design, OpenAPI specifications

Experience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar)

Knowledge of database design for integration scenarios (PostgreSQL/Redis)

Understanding of healthcare integration challenges

Strongly Preferred:

Experience in healthcare technology or regulated industries

Knowledge of HL7 standards or healthcare data exchange

Experience with real-time data streaming and WebSockets

Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) experience

API Gateway implementation experience

Nice to Have:

Experience with medical device integration

Knowledge of DICOM for medical imaging

Experience with healthcare compliance (HIPAA, GDPR, PDPA)

Previous work in rehabilitation/therapeutic systems
