Job Description

A leading organisation in the healthcare sector delivering tertiary oncology services across India. The role sits within an advanced cancer-care unit providing multidisciplinary diagnostics, systemic therapy, and supportive/palliative care to adult oncology patients.

Primary title: Consultant Medical Oncologist

Role & Responsibilities

  • Deliver outpatient and inpatient medical oncology care: evaluate patients, establish diagnosis, stage disease, and formulate evidence-based systemic treatment plans.
  • Prescribe and oversee administration of systemic anticancer therapies including cytotoxic chemotherapy, targeted agents and immunotherapy; ensure accurate dosing, documentation and toxicity management.
  • Perform and interpret bone marrow aspiration/biopsy procedures and manage related acute complications.
  • Lead and participate in multidisciplinary tumour boards to align medical oncology plans with surgical, radiation and supportive-care teams.
  • Manage and report treatment response using standard criteria (e.g., RECIST) and implement guideline-driven follow-up and survivorship plans.
  • Contribute to clinical governance: maintain chemotherapy safety protocols, support audit, adverse-event reporting, and mentor junior doctors and nursing staff.

Skills & QualificationsMust-Have

  • Postgraduate qualification in Medical Oncology (MD/DNB or equivalent)
  • Proven clinical competency in chemotherapy administration and systemic therapy management
  • Proficiency in bone marrow aspiration and biopsy procedures
  • BLS/ACLS certification and strong knowledge of oncology safety protocols

Preferred

  • Experience in early-phase clinical trials or clinical research in oncology
  • Subspecialty exposure to hematologic malignancies or stem-cell transplant pathways
