Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Coding Team Lead to supervise and guide a team of medical coders while ensuring accurate, compliant, and high-quality coding of medical diagnoses and procedures. The ideal candidate will foster collaboration, maintain productivity standards, and drive continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of medical coders
- Foster a collaborative and performance-driven team environment
Coding Oversight
- Review and assign appropriate codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS)
- Ensure accuracy and adherence to coding guidelines
Quality Assurance
- Conduct regular audits and provide constructive feedback
- Maintain high coding accuracy and compliance standards
Workflow Management
- Monitor productivity, allocate tasks, and manage priorities
- Ensure timely completion of coding assignments
Communication & Coordination
- Liaise with cross-functional departments
- Update the team on policies, guidelines, and changes
Training & Development
- Organize training sessions and knowledge-sharing programs
- Keep the team updated with industry standards and best practices
Performance Management
- Conduct performance reviews
- Identify growth and improvement opportunities
Problem Resolution
- Address operational issues and implement effective solutions
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA and healthcare regulations
- Prepare reports on coding activities and performance metrics
- Support strategic planning initiatives
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field (preferred)
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification (required)
- Minimum 5 years of medical coding experience, including 1 year in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of coding standards, healthcare regulations, and reimbursement systems
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage teams and meet deadlines effectively
