Description
We are seeking a highly experienced Medical Coder - Surgery Team Lead to oversee our surgical coding team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical coding with a focus on surgical procedures and will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and productivity of coding operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the surgery coding team in accurate and timely coding of surgical procedures.
- Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.
- Conduct regular audits of coding accuracy and provide feedback to team members.
- Provide training and support to junior coders on coding practices and updates.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and coding requirements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of coding policies and procedures.
- Monitor coding productivity and accuracy metrics and report to management.
Skills and Qualifications
- 6-10 years of experience in medical coding, specifically in surgical coding.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with medical staff and team members.
- Ability to lead and mentor a team of coders, providing guidance and support as needed.
