Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures.
- Assign appropriate codes for billing and reimbursement purposes using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Ensure compliance with legal and ethical coding standards and practices.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to clarify diagnoses and procedures when necessary.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and updates.
- Perform audits and quality checks on coded data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Skills and Qualifications
- 2-10 years of experience in medical coding or a related field.
- Proficient in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding and documentation.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret complex medical information.
- Certification as a Medical Coder (e.g., CPC, CCS, CIC) is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare providers.
